IN THE NEWS:
On July 26, 2005, the day of the special election for a new San Diego mayor following Dick Murphy's scandal-driven resignation, a coalition of public interest groups including California Common Cause, the San Diego Alliance for Clean Elections and Neighborhoods for Campaign Finance Reform unveiled the "San Diego Declaration of Independence from Private Money" at the San Diego Registrar of Voters. The event was a huge success, attracting many supporters of Clean Elections and coverage from many local media outlets.
